Concrete & Cotton is Havis’ self-released debut CD. She is a
singer/songwriter with a lot to share. She slides into your ears
like a smooth sip of whiskey, complete with a bite that won’t hurt,
but intrigue. This 10 song creation will leave you searching for
the non-existent bonus track you wish was there.
She was born and raised in Oakland, CA. She got her first guitar
when she was 9 and took lessons for a while, but shelved it for
a competitive nature in sports. She picked it up again late in High
School and has never looked back. Her first love is sitting at home
writing songs, but she’ll soon venture out into the big bad world
of performing them as well.
"This has been a very long time coming and was an amazing
labor of love for me. I know I have a lot of hard work ahead of
me and I welcome it. I had a small and gifted group of musicians
who helped me to bring this to life. Peter
Michael Escovedo who also produced the CD, Cat Gray, Kathleen
Dyson, Paul Pesco and Alex Al. I wish I would have had the guts
to have done this long before now, but better late than never I
suppose."
She, like so many other aspiring artists or for that matter, anyone
who listens to music, has many other artists who inspire and drive
her. They are too numerous to mention all of them, but here are
a few that she vibes to...
Coltrane,
Foo Fighters,
Ben Harper,
Hendrix,
John Mayer,
Wes
Montgomery, Jill
Scott, Lenny
Kravitz, Damien
Rice, Jane
Child, Stevie
Ray Vaughn, Jack
Johnson, Dave
Matthews Band, India
Arie, Ani
Difranco, Wendy
& Lisa and the list goes on. |
